Well, that makes a lot of sense, doesn't it? I can't believe Microsoft ever did pay for iPhones, etc. Think about it. I am sure Starbucks does not provide their employees with free coffee from Seattle's Best.... what were they thinking? Unless it was to better understand the competition.

Microsoft No Longer Pays For Employees’ iPhones, BlackBerries
Hiding behind the ruse of cost-cutting, Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) has stopped reimbursing employees’ wireless data plans—unless they are using a Windows Mobile phone. In other words, that means Microsoft will no longer pay for an Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) iPhone data plan, a BlackBerry account, a Palm (NSDQ: PALM) Pre, or any others, according to Silicon Alley Insider.

Bosse, you know you are right, it does stink. But I thought you were the smart one of the litter. You search, you rescue but now, come on dawg get real. Who cares about your iphone and Friday BBQ. A lot of people are really in bad shape right now. If their companies can help save someone's job by cutting out these ridiculous perks then power to the people who are trying to do just that. The dawgs I run into are mighty happy to have that job and are more motivated than ever to try and keep it and could care less about their hot dogs. Okay okay, Bosse, I know you feel differently about your hot dogs.... Phew who needs all the nitrates anyway? They are doing evey one a favor. It's a cycle we've seen before [at least those of us old enough]. Before the dot.com burst - the whole tech workforce felt so entitled to all the "extras" - every employer trying to out do the others to attract and retain. Does it really work, Bosse? Does all this extra stuff HR usually gets to do really matter? I think not.
